Riddle

At the beginning of the game, I am small and insignificant. As the game progresses, my importance increases, by every move. I can shelter your pieces or attack opponent’s pieces. But, more importantly, deep down inside me, there lies a big secret, a magic, a tremendous power that can change the outcome of the game. To unleash this incredible power, I have to complete a long, dangerous and hazardous journey. Once I have reached my destination, the transformation happens and my destiny is fulfilled.
